Kate & Baby Ronnie - Birth Story
Posted on
I had planned a water birth in my local birth centre. As he was back to back and I wasn’t dilating quickly they transferred me to Treliske Hospital. The Dr decided I needed an episiotomy and forceps delivery as he was so big - he said there was no way I’d of delivered naturally due to his size.
I was obviously disappointed as I so wanted my water birth, but I persevered for 14 hours before the transfer. The hypnobirthing really helped up until that point, I was breathing through contractions and only used gas and air once the pain ramped up.
For me, I wasn’t scared when my waters broke, just full of anticipation and excitement that I was going to finally meet my baby. It helped prepare me - a normally anxious person and that was invaluable.
